Animal Defense Partnership
LOGO, BRAND IDENTITY
The Project
Animal Defense Partnership (ADP) protects animals by providing free legal services to nonprofits that advocate for animals and plant-based diet change. They believe that all animal organizations should have access to strong legal support and representation, setting them up for long term growth and success.
Our Approach
ADP deserves a brand that looks highly professional, trustworthy, and represents them as an elite team with a lot of personality. We approached them with a proposal for a rebrand, and consulted with them to create something that represents their kindness and exceptional services.

The Logo
We needed to represent multiple animals in the logo design, since ADP represents a variety of animal advocates spanning farmed, wild, and companion animals. We took inspiration from the famous Calder sketches (line drawings) and their nimble energy using only minimalist lines. The resulting logo has strong forward movement and energy, better representing ADP’s valuable skill and agility.
Brand Identity
The color palette and overall aesthetic is simultaneously professional and friendly. The logo has so much bounce, energy, and friendliness from the animals’ faces, the color palette needed to be more professional to balance. It incorporates a more traditional navy, blue, and tan that are historic to ADP’s previous brand scheme.

“Violet Studios is an exceptional capacity-building resource for the animal protection movement. David van Beveren is an inspiring leader, not to mention a world-class mensch. Being responsible for our original logo, I was a tough sell. But Kate took great pains to understand our objectives and preferences, both aesthetically and in its messaging. She was extremely patient, fully open to our input, and presented us with a number of beautiful design sketches from which to choose. It was a terrific experience from start to finish and we’re proud to have adopted what she created. Working with Kate to make this significant organizational change saved thousands of dollars and, no doubt, a great deal of stomach lining. ”
